The Icing started as a passion project of mine in 2020. The world had closed down due to covid and I was struggling more than I realized. I had freshly ended a relationship that I had been in and out of for the majority of my life, and I had lost my job like so many others did during this time. With way too much time on my hands and a lack of human connection and conversation, The Icing was born. Well actually ” The Icing on our cake” was born. I was very lucky to begin this podcast journey alongside one of my best friends Clarity Engel. We had an absolute blast recording 17 episodes in 6 months. The experience of having a podcast or a business with a friend is not for the faint of heart. Aligning schedules began to become impossible with Clarity in Canada with her Fiance and me being in LA. I am so incredibly grateful to have had Clarity by my side throughout season 1. I can honestly say our friendship grew to a deeper level and it is something I will cherish forever.
Being the sol creator and producer of the show allowed for me to have an easy transition into going solo with my podcast as “The Icing” in November 2020.
I get several questions about the name of the podcast being “The Icing” and what meaning it has. For me The Icing is what holds everything together, it may be the gorgeous exterior of every cake but the ingredients of the icing and the icing itself is the final touches to the completed cake. I make it a point to talk about the nitty gritty of life on my podcast. The highs the lows, the struggles and everything in between. I’m 25 and really still trying to figure out my life one day at a time. There is an immense pressure places on us to have out life figured out in ur 20’s by society. Don’t get me wrong here, I would love to have my life figured out but the reality is I don’t. The Icing represents all of the little details in life we have to work through to get to the final perfect product “the cake” or our life.
Each season I take a new spin on things, depending where I am in my life. I am very excited for Season 3 of The Icing to be releasing November 7th at 7am pst.
